OBSCURA Announces New Bassist
September 16, 2011German progressive death metallers OBSCURA have recruited Linus Klausenitzer as their new bassist. Linus, who is also part of the progressive metal outfit NONEUCLID, played with OBSCURA on the band's recent European tour with HATE ETERNAL as well as the North American trek alongside CHILDREN OF BODOM and the DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT.

OBSCURA will head to Southsast Asia and Dubai for the first time ever at the end of this month. This run of dates kicks off on September 23 and is in support of the band's latest album, "Omnivium".
Bassist Jeroen Paul Thesseling recently left OBSCURA "due to repetitive conflicting schedules with job-related obligations."
"Omnivium" sold around 2,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 11 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
OBSCURA's previous album, "Cosmogenesis", opened with 900 units to debut at No. 71 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart.
The "Omnivium" artwork was designed and laid out by Orion Landau (ORIGIN, DYING FETUS, ZEKE, DISFEAR).
"Omnivium" was recorded at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS). The album is based on Friedrich Schelling's "On Nature's Connection to the Spirit World".
